Nursery Ministry Coordinator
Job OpeningThe Nursery Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the nursery ministry at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by providing a staffed nursery during worship services, Bible studies, and special events that will serve members and guests of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Qualifications and Personal Qualities
The Nursery Ministry Coordinator will
- Display a love for God and His people
- Be an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, faithful in regular worship, and demonstrate Christian living
- Demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills, organization and planning skills, reliability, and the ability to interact well with children, parents, and volunteers
- Understand their role as a ministry position, and see the Nursery as an extension of our Children’s Ministry and outreach programs
- Be least 18 years old and legally able to work in the United States
- Complete First Aid, CPR and AED training for infants and children
- Pass a criminal background and national sex offender registry check
- Demonstrate experience in a childcare setting and/or completion of Early Childhood Education classes (preferred) OR have extensive childcare experience with children ages 0-4.

Reports to: Director of Children’s & Family Ministry
Position is: Part-time, Contracted Employee, No benefits
Supervises: Nursery Volunteers
Specific Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Adherence to the Church Mission, Policies and Procedures
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers to serve in the nursery during Sunday morning services, Bible studies, and for special events as requested
- Oversee nursery functions such as establishing and maintaining a check-in and check-out process, accurate attendance records, and adequate nursery supplies
- Oversee appropriate scheduling of nursery volunteers and management of schedule changes to ensure proper coverage, maintenance of a sanitary and organized nursery environment, and other needs as designated by the Director of Children’s & Family Ministry
- Offer age-appropriate activities and childcare for children in the nursery
- Demonstrate a positive and friendly attitude and cultivate a caring nursery environment for the parents and children, as well as nursery volunteers, reflecting Christ’s love to all who enter the nursery
- Take special care to be welcoming to guests of Holy Cross Lutheran Church who utilize the nursery
- Assist in the planning and leadership of nursery volunteer training, work cooperatively with the ministry team in the planning of programming and support for children and parents
- Regularly report any needs (staff, supply, or personal) and concerns to the Director of Children’s & Family Ministry and maintain clear and consistent communication
- Pray for the children, parents, and volunteers who are connected to the nursery
