Nurture and Grow Your Faith

Holy Cross seeks to be a community transformed by the love of Jesus. Midweek Connect is an opportunity to nurture your faith and grow in your understanding of the Gospel. It is an education evening for the whole family, infants through adults.

Midweek Connect begins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings (it breaks during Advent, Lent and the summer season). There are various snacks available for purchase ahead of time in the Crossing. Everyone is welcome to bring snacks or an outside meal to class.

Why do you believe in Christianity? Many Christians falter when asked this question not realizing there is strong evidence supporting a belief in Christianity. It’s one thing to believe on Sunday mornings, but do you believe when confronted with difficult questions? We’re going to take a look at some of the evidence supporting Christianity and think critically to try and dispel some of the misconceptions. We’re going to attempt to show you the Bible is the most relevant book in our world today even though it was written more than 2,000 years ago. Come participate in an exercise in critical thinking, asking questions, and gaining perspective so you can be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.

Joining Jesus on His Mission

Joining Jesus on His Mission will alter the way you see your life as a follower of Jesus and take you beyond living your life for Jesus to living life with Jesus. Simple, powerful and applicable insights show you how to be on mission and recognize where Jesus is already at work in your neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. You will feel both relief and hope. You may even hear yourself say, “I can do this!” as you start responding to the everyday opportunities Jesus is placing in your path.

Grace Based Parenting

Creating an Atmosphere of Grace is a refreshing study that shows moms and dads how to love their kids the way god loves His—with grace! It gives parents a realistic job description for raising spiritually strong children who grow up with a sense of calm and a heart full of purpose and hope. Regardless of the health and dynamics of your family configuration, anyone can benefit from Grace Based Parenting!

This study will help you:

  • Find a balance in a world of extremes
  • Meet the three true needs of your children
  • Replace fear with confidence in your role as a parent
  • Keep from investing energy in a long list of things that don’t matter

Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy

Women’s Study Led by Michelle Searcy
Continues from last semester, but it’s not too late to join
January 8 –February 19

This is a faith-building study of prophecy in which you will learn how to live with integrity in today’s self-absorbed society. The prophet Daniel faced unbelievable pressures to compromise his faith, to live in a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and threats. Today, we face many of the same trials.

This Old Testament Bible study falls in two parts.  The first portion, from Daniel chapters 1-6, deals with Daniel’s life as he faced the kind of pressures and temptations Christians encounter today. Daniel models how to develop enduring integrity in an enticing world. We will complete the first part of this study over six weeks between October 2 and Thanksgiving.  

The second portion, chapters 7-12, explores thrilling prophecies from the time of Daniel through the second coming of Jesus Christ.  We will cover this section over six weeks beginning in January of 2020.

Each participant will need to purchase a study guide through the study leader Michelle Searcy.

High School Small Group

This is a night specifically prepared for High School students to fellowship together while going discussing the sermon each week.  It’s their weekly place to connect and become nurtured with their peers as we grow in the knowledge of Jesus.

Middle School Confirmation and Community

We welcome all sixth thru eighth graders to our newly renovated Confirmation and Community!  Adding significantly more opportunity to relationships as well as deeper ways to connect and provide opportunities for faith application during this very formative years, we have added Small Group Leaders, a monthly Community Night in which the students will learn more about each other while talking about hot topics or develop servant leadership traits through group initiative challenges that will include building relationships with our high school students as they make their wake to Senior High Youth Group in the years to come.  We have also kept our monthly Parent Too classes that give parents the opportunity to play a larger role in the kid’s faith development.

Kids Connect

We want children in our ministry to grow up with an authentic faith in Jesus Christ. Our Kids Connect activities will help children grow in wisdom, faith, and friendship! The interactive games, small group discussions, videos, crafts, and music work into memorable, Jesus-centered lessons to influence children towards a lifelong faith and we’ll focus on developing 4 Faith Skills: HEAR (listening to God’s Word), PRAY (talking with God), TALK (articulate your faith) and LIVE (worship God with your life).

Our Holy Cross Kids Sunday School and Midweek Kids Connect will share a monthly theme and lessons will be connected, but not identical. We encourage parents to make both of these education and fellowship opportunities part of your family’s weekly rhythm.
