About Holy Cross

Our Mission

Connect. Nurture. Serve.

The mission of Holy Cross Lutheran Church is to make disciples by connecting people to Jesus Christ and each other, nurturing faith, and serving in Christian love.

Our Vision

Transformation.

We envision a community being transformed by the love of Jesus.

Our Values

God’s Word over Our Words, because only God’s word transforms lives.

2 Corinthians 4:5: For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

What We’re For over What We’re Against, because judgment condemns, but grace saves.

John 3:17: For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Together over Alone, because growth and change happen best in community.

Acts 2:42-47: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.  They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

All People over Only My Tribe, because all people are made in the image of God.

Genesis 1:27: So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Building Bridges over Building Walls, because grace compels us to meet others where they are.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23: Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.  To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews.  To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.  To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.  To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.  I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.  I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

Authenticity over Facades, because relationships thrive when we are real and honest.

1 John 1:6-8: If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Empower To Disciple over Cater To Consume, because Jesus calls us to BE the church, not just go to church.

2 Corinthians 5:20: We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
