Preschool

Questions: What do you say when you get a present? What do you say when Dad makes you dinner? What do you say when Grandma reads a book to you? “Thank you!”

Follow up: Thank God together for everything your preschooler can see, touch, taste, hear and smell. “Thank you, God, for my fruit snacks. Thank you, God, for the sun. Thank you, God, for my dog.”

Elementary

Questions: Do you like being a part of a team? Why is everyone important on sports team? Do you like working together in groups at school?

Follow up: Being a part of the church is like being a part of God’s team – and everyone is important! Pastor Sattler is on God’s team, and so are YOU!

Middle School

Questions: What would the world look like if there were no policemen? What would the world look like if there were no trash collectors? Or farmers? Pilots? Pastors?

Follow up: Say, “We celebrated Pastor Sattler this week, and thanked God for his work in our church. YOU have a special place in the church too! How can you use your gifts to serve God in our church?”

High School

Questions: What would the world look like if there were no policemen? What would the world look like if there were no trash collectors? Or farmers? Pilots? Pastors?

Follow up: Say, “We celebrated Pastor Sattler this week, and thanked God for his work in our church. YOU have a special place in the church too! How can you use your gifts to serve God in our church?”

Adult

Questions: Did Pastor Sattler impact your life? How?

Follow up: When was the last time you wrote a thank-you note? Sit down with your child and come up with a list of 5 people to write a thank-you note to (anyone from a grandparent to a coach to the janitor at your school). Write the notes together and talk about how God blesses us through the people in our lives.

Parent Bonus

Parents, here’s your bonus content for this week:

We celebrated Pastor Sattler’s retirement this weekend, and thanked God for his role in passing faith onto the next generation. Say a prayer of thanksgiving! How blessed we have been to live life and do ministry with him!

We’re sure you know that “it takes a village” to raise a child, and Holy Cross is a part of your village! Read this article and ask yourself, “Who are my child’s 5?”
